We are in need of an experienced tailor to work at our location on Forest Avenue in Portland. Common tasks include replacing zippers and buttons, hemming pants and skirts, shortening sleeves, adding darts to shirts and dresses, repairing seams, and adding badges or insignia to uniforms. We will train you on our process, but you must be able to fit, alter, and repair garments and operate sewing machinery.  If you love sewing and customer service, come join our team of highly-skilled tailors.  Customer Service / Counter Help

Be the face of Pratt Abbott! We have several openings for full- or part-time Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) at our 12 locations across Southern Maine.  As a CSR, your primary role is to represent the company and provide outstanding service. Duties include taking in customers’ dry cleaning, returning their clean orders to them at pick-up, collecting payments, and answering any questions or concerns they may have.

Since you're interacting with customers, it is important to be friendly and welcoming, with a positive attitude. But don’t worry, Pratt Abbott has the best customers in the world! This is a fun, fast-paced job that is never boring. No experience is necessary, we will train you for this position.

Job Requirements

All applicants must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have basic computer skills (for data entry, looking up customer information, etc.)
  • Be able to read and speak English (to communicate with customers and understand clothing labels)
  • Be comfortable working with the public

Accounting Intern (Temporary)

Are you a Business or Accounting major looking for real-world work experience to improve your skills build your resume?  Support Pratt Abbott's Accounting Team in our Westbrook, Maine headquarters, and work directly with our Controller on Pratt Abbott’s strategic business initiatives.

Duties include:

  • Provide support to the Accounting Team, including processes related to expense reporting, cash receipt entry, credit card reconciliation, consulting incentive and utilization calculations and accounts payable entry
  • Assist with administrative tasks, reconciliations and ad hoc reporting, and special projects

Your qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program in Business, preferably with a concentration in Accounting
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Internet and technology savvy—you must be capable of quickly learning and utilizing multiple databases and websites, and performing online research
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities with ease
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to quality and ability to maintain confidentiality

This is a paid internship offering hourly compensation. Your work schedule will be Monday–Friday, 9am to 4pm. Duration: One month, possibly longer.
